The Clinical Neuroimaging Insights in Neurodegenerative Diseases Laboratory is led by Dr. Liwen Zhang, PhD, at the Ruijin Hospital - Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

Dementia leads to irreversible neurodegeneration in the brain and currently has no cure. One promising strategy to slow disease progression is to detect disease early, as interventions may be most effective before significant neurodegeneration occurs. Using multimodal neuroimaging techniques, our lab focuses on characterizing brain alteration patterns in dementia and other related neurodegenerative diseases. Our primary goal is to develop sensitive neuroimaging biomarkers for early disease detection, monitoring and prediction, especially at the individual level. 

Our mission is to enhance understanding of the underlying brain mechanisms of dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases from the neuroimaging perspective, aiming to provide novel insights into future precision medicine.

张栎文（PhD），上海交通大学医学院附属瑞金医院科研PI，建立了神经退行性疾病临床脑影像实验室。

痴呆症导致渐进性的认知功能退化，且严重程度远超正常老化情形，这极大地损害了患者及其家属的生活质量，并带来沉重的医疗负担。痴呆症属于全球性难题，目前尚无法治愈。由于痴呆症会引起不可逆的大脑神经性退化，因此疾病及早发现并在大脑退化的早期阶段或之前进行临床干预是一种预防或者延缓痴呆症发生和恶化的有效策略。围绕临床需要（如早期检测、疾病监测和预测、异质性），课题组运用多模态脑影像技术（如fMRI、structural MRI、diffusion MRI、PET）和前沿分析方法，通过揭示具有临床相关性的大脑变化影像特征，旨在开发相关的疾病脑影像标志物。课题组同时关注痴呆症相关研究策略在其他神经退行性疾病中的拓展应用。

我们的使命是从神经影像学的角度探索痴呆症和其他神经退行性疾病的潜在大脑机制，旨在为未来的精准医学提供新的见解。
